BUCKSKINNERS MUZZLELOADING ASSOCIATION LIMITED

Annual Summer Rendezvous 2012 - June 23 & 24, 2012

Registration & Camper’s Fee, including Buffet Supper: $25.00 single and $40.00 family.
Buffet Supper provided Saturday evening June 23rd at 6:00 p.m. ($8.00 fee for those not registered).
Wood and water provided for campers. There will be no canteen; pop/water will be available at $0.75 per can/bottle.
50/50 draw tickets will be sold and drawn for Sunday during presentation of prizes.
Safety is our main goal, and we want everyone to have fun.
All rules will be posted at the Clubhouse.
Open iron sights only. No slings or other supporting harness in competition.
Persons 50 years and older are permitted to use peep sights.
There will be lots of shooting for everyone.
Shooting commences at 9:00 a.m. and goes until 5:00 p.m. unless otherwise indicated.
All regular paper targets are to be shot on Saturday, June 23rd.
Primitive shoot on Sunday, June 24th. – 9 a.m. – 12 Noon
Shotgun – Saturday evening – June 23rd - after supper
Hawk & Knife all day Saturday June 23rd – please see sign up sheets in Clubhouse.
Archery will take place all day Saturday June 23rd – please see sign up sheets in Clubhouse.
NOTE: No fiberglass or compound bows. Must have own equipment.
Cartridge will be traditional black powder or substitute – No Smokeless. Repeaters must be loaded single round only.
Lunch break is at 12:00 noon ‘til 1:00 pm each day.
Relays will last 20 minutes with 10 minute breaks between relays.
Keep in mind that there are 5 shots per target.
Prizes to the winners in our shooting categories to be presented on Sunday, June 24^th approximately 2p.m.

All persons who own firearms must be in possession of a valid firearms license. Firearms used on our Range must be registered as required by the law and have proof of registration.

Police Chief Rick Hanson says it’s time to review the federal gun registry, even though most of his colleagues support keeping it. “The gun registry has done little to make the streets safer,” said Police Chief Rick Hanson. Calgary is known for its gang wars that have played out on city streets. Shootouts have left a bloody trail of murder and violence. The police gang unit says handguns are the weapon of choice for Calgary gangs. But there has also been an increase in the use of heavier weapons like assault rifles, which can penetrate body armour and vehicles.

Chief Hanson is one of the first chiefs in the country to say publicly that the gun registry isn’t working. “For the years it’s been in effect, there are more guns on the street today – handguns and prohibited weapons – than I can ever recall, and that’s since the gun registry has been implemented,” added Chief Hanson. The Canadian Association of Chiefs and the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police support the registry. They claim it’s used 11-thousand times every single day. But in Calgary, officers use the registry as an investigative tool and say it doesn’t work when dealing with gangs and drug dealers. Chief Hanson says the gun registry does nothing to reduce the level of violent crime and the use of guns by criminals on the street. He says it’s not about politics, it’s about safety. “It’s not helping. The guns these people have, they don’t register, they don’t care, they’re probably stolen, they’re probably obtained illegally, in many cases they’re prohibited,” commented Chief Hanson.

Chief Hanson wants tougher sentences when someone is convicted of using a weapon to commit a crime. He also wants more search and seizure power when police have reasonable grounds to suspect someone may be in possession of an illegal gun.
